Join us on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin for the Big Canberra Bike Ride on Sunday 3 March 2019. There's something for everyone with rides to cater for all levels of ability - 5 km, 35 km, 65 km and 120 km.

 

 
 

5 km BIG Family Ride

The 5 km Big Family Ride is a ride for all ages and abilities, taking place entirely on closed roads. The ride starts at the event hub on Rond Terrace heading west down Parkes Way, one of Canberra’s major arterial roads which will be closed to traffic for the event. The ride continues along Parkes Way on the north side of Lake Burley Griffin to the Acton tunnel, and back again via the same route.

A winner with the kids, this ride will include entertainment throughout.

35 km Big LAKE Ride 

The 35 km Big Lake Ride features a circuit around Lake Burley Griffin, the “jewel in the crown” of Canberra’s beautiful bush capital. The ride starts at the event hub on Rond Terrace, and heads west along the north side of the lake via Parkes Way, which will be closed to traffic. It then follows the lake path toward Scrivener Dam and along the Molonglo River to the cycle facility at Stromlo Forest Park. The ride returns via the river and path on the the southern side of the lake, crossing over Kings Avenue Bridge to Commonwealth Park and back to Rond Terrace.

65 km Big DAM Bike Ride 

The 65 km Big Dam Bike Ride follows one of Canberra’s most popular cycling circuits through Uriarra and past the spectacular Cotter Dam. The ride starts at the event hub on Rond Terrace, heading west down Parkes Way which will be closed for traffic. It then takes the Cotter - Uriarra loop anticlockwise via William Hovell Drive, down through Coppins Crossing to Uriarra, and back via Cotter Road past Cotter Dam. The ride returns to the city via Cotter Road, Adelaide Avenue and the Kings Avenue Bridge to the event hub at Rond Terrace.

120 km Big TIDBINBILLA Bike Ride

The 120 km Big Tidbinbilla Ride follows the same route as the 65 km Big Dam Ride, with the addition of a return ride into the beautiful Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. The Tidbinbilla leg extends from Cotter Road south down Paddy River Road to Tidbinbilla, with a loop through the reserve and return ride to the city via Cotter Road, Adelaide Avenue and the Kings Avenue Bridge to the event hub at Rond Terrace.
